Islamic Relief donors are now sponsoring over 20,000 orphans in 21 countries worldwide. Islamic Relief is continuously working to increase the number of sponsored orphans who are supported by its program. It is striving hard to encourage the sponsorship of orphans, the reward for which is to become an associate of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in Paradise.  We ask individuals to sponsor an orphan for at least one year, which allows us to plan ahead and maintain a level of service to the orphan.  However, in case of any difficulty, the sponsor may cancel at any time with advanced notice of cancellation.

The program aims to provide basic necessities to orphans, improve their health and nutrition, implement projects within the community and support the orphan educationally, socially, and morally.

Educational

• Regular visits to the orphan’s school
• Provisions of school supplies: a school bag, books, and stationary
• Educational competitions
• End of the year celebrations with distribution of gifts

Social

• Regular visits to the orphan’s home
• Monthly stipend for the orphan and the orphan’s family
• Occasional gifts
• Eid visits and distribution of clothing
• Zakah and Udhiyah/Qurbani distribution

Health

• Regular medical check-ups
• Distribution of health leaflets to orphan’s caretakers
• Cleanliness advice: personal, household, school
• Vaccinations

Cultural, Sports, and Leisure

• Summer camps
• Various trips
• Cultural activities
• Sports competitions

In addition to the one-to-one sponsorships, Islamic Relief also has an Orphan General Fund. This fund allocates assistance to orphans all over the world, irrespective of whether or not they are participants in the one-to-one sponsorship program.

Islamic Relief's orphan support projects aim to provide basic necessities to orphans, improve their health and nutrition, implement projects within the community and support the orphan educationally, socially, and morally.

Islamic Relief offers services to orphans according to their age group through their caring for Orphans Program as follows:

Age group: 0-5years

• Health care
• Social program; necessities such food, shelter and clothing
• Mental help
• Financial help

Age group: 6-12 years

• Health care
• Social program; necessities such food, shelter and clothing
• Mental help
• Financial help

Age group: 13-18 years

• Health care
• Social program; necessities such food, shelter and clothing
• Mental help
• Educational program, school requirements, Eid clothes.
• Vocational training (information technology, languages, etc.)
