Practical Support for IDPs in Central Iraq

Project Overview

The project began in July 2007 and Islamic Relief is assisted by the local authorities who help with distribution of items.
The items included blankets, mattresses, plastic sheets, water, fuel and jerry cans and the quantities and types of non-food items are determined according to need.

Problem / Project Background

Over 2.4 million people are estimated to be displaced within Iraq, with a further 2 million living as refugees overseas.

Project Activities

  • Distributing essential non-food items to IDPs
  • Carrying out a needs assessments report indicating types and needs of items to be distributed.

Beneficiaries

The project will benefit 8,000 IDP families.
