Louisiana
In Baton Rouge, LA, Islamic Relief's efforts focused on assisting hurricane victims in two shelters as well as providing an elaborate system of goods distribution between the various relief distribution sites. Islamic Relief is working with several organizations on the ground to provide aid to displaced citizens in the surrounding area. Islamic Relief is working closely with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) (our team has secured a desk at their headquarters in Baton Rouge), and now has access to all of its resources, including use of their inter-agency warehouse.

Mississippi
Islamic Relief's Katrina efforts in Mississippi focused mainly on the devastated city of Biloxi. Islamic Relief has been providing various types of aid to help in the recovery efforts. On January 24, 2006, the city of Biloxi and Mayor A.J. Halloway officially recognized Islamic Relief's disaster relief work in the city.

Islamic Relief began helping displaced citizens in Houston as soon as they arrived in the city within days of Hurricane Katrina. Working with several local organizations, including the Healing Hands Foundation, Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston, the Second Baptist Church, United Way, the Islamic Society of Greater Houston, and many more, Islamic Relief provided displaced citizens with emergency shelter, food, educational supplies, and more.
